Sarah is the Founder and ‘Chief Eater’ at Made In Hackney. A former reggae and dancehall music journalist, writer, radio broadcaster, community gardener, organic food grower and daughter of a home economics teacher, she founded MIH to tackle urgent issues she was passionate about – the climate crisis, health inequalities, food justice and community cohesion. Her TedX talk ‘Why The World Needs Community Kitchens’ has been watched 9,000 times. Sarah has written opinion pieces for The Independent on hunger, been interviewed many times by radio and TV news reporters about MIH, and in her former journalism career written for Esquire, The Times, BBC World Service, The Face, ID, The Ecologist, Monocle and many other titles.
